the rooms ...

Casa de Belharino offers its guests 6 double rooms and 2 superior double rooms. All have a queen size bed, private bathroom, air conditioning and views of the garden and pool of the house. The superior double rooms have a living / reading area and one has a private terrasse.

A tasty homemade breakfast is served daily in the common living/dinning room and is included in the room rate.

The décor was inspired by popular Portuguese expressions associated with traditional everyday life:

Deixa-te de peneiras

The literal translation is “Get out of sieves”.

The old sieves and screens of the house, used during the choice of the grains of the cereal here sown, give the motto to the decoration. In Portuguese, someone with “peneiras” is someone smug or cocky. So, the name of this room is in fact a pun. A room for guests without “peneiras”

A agulha e o dedal

“The needle and the thimble” is the title of a portuguese famous song immortalized in 1933 in the film "The Lisbon Song". Our sewing room is named after that song, and it is decorated with thimbles, threads, lace and embroideries ... but no needles!

Chapéus há muitos ...

“There are many hats” is an expression popularized in by the charismatic movie character Vasco Leitão, meaning “it doesn’t matter”. Popular expression apart, bald or hairy, no one goes without a hat in this room.

Ó caraças!

The “Ó caraças!” room is decored with traditional regional masks, carved in wood and / or cork by our artisan friend Carlos Ferreira. Why the name? Easy. In portuguese masks are called “máscaras” but they can also be called “caraças”, and the expression “oh caraças!” also means something got wrong, something like “Oh crap!”

Ó Evaristo, tens cá disto?

Staged with some old grocery store objects and packages, this room was named after a famous expression of the black & white movie “O pátio das cantigas”. The name in english would be “Oh Evaristo, do you have this?”. And our answer is Yes we have! This and that, always the best for our customers.

Menina estás à janela

“Girl at the window” is the title of a popular love song. A room for the eternal romantics who will one day make a serenade.
